About Cherry-Ann, Founder of Writetastic Solutions

Words and writing, in fact, anything to do with the literary world is my passion and my business.

For as long as I can remember, I have been an avid reader and felt an affinity to the art of writing. Deep in my heart, I felt a calling to write. I heeded that call by stepping away from Corporate England after many years and took a post as a freelance sports journalist. Not long after, I became the editor for a sports magazine.

A few years later, I immigrated to the US and within 2-years was partner in a recruiting business. A year later, I resigned my partnership; I missed my passion, writing.

Writing is a way for me to express my thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences in a creative way about the world in which we live. I especially like writing fiction, where I could use the human condition, or human experience through characters.

I further like to explore my imagination by playing with literary devices such as metaphors, similes, imagery, symbolism and other tools to make my writing entertaining.

So I made a decision to finish my first novel that I had placed on ice. I had no idea about the peaks and valleys my writing would take when I made the decision to focus on finishing my book. It would be a piece of cake I thought initially. After all, I was an experienced journalist, editor and had been studying the constructs of writing for years.

I was so wrong.

Plus, I needed to eat, so I started a service-based business as a writing coach and editor, editing both fiction and non-fiction.

I quickly realized, or, rather learned, that a books journey doesn’t end when you type “The end.” In fact, the journey is only just beginning. There are stages one has to go through. There’s finding an agent, the agent has to find a publisher, the book needs to be edited etc. if going the traditional route. If self-publishing, that is another avenue the journey takes.

However, within 2-years, I co-authored two books (one of which became a bestseller) and published my first novel.

I learned that I had to be clear about the goals for my books in order for them to be successful, as what I do, or, don’t do, will impact my expectations.

Then it dawned on me that I could help novice writers to find their own path beyond editing their books and coaching them on the mechanics of writing, because the experience taught me about book publishing in its entirety (I don’t claim to know everything, plus things are changing rapidly, but I do keep apprised about the publishing industry) and I also became cognizant about the importance of marketing and learned strategies.

Given this, I now have the privilege of teaching my clients the steps needed to not only write books, but how to market and publish them, along with programs I create.

That’s my story. I’d love to hear yours.
